Recently, I'm trying to experiment some materials for my art.
In this posting and following postings, I want to share about "Photo Transfer" technique.
Photo transfer technique is quite trendy now on the web I think. (especially on Pinterest)
I learned this technique about 8 years ago from printmaking class.
To be honest, it's so easy to call as "printmaking" but the result is very nice.
If you can have some materials, you can make personalized art piece very easily.
I was curious... how it will work on different ground materials.
I usually used paper or ordinary stretched canvas.
This time, I tried popsicle sticks and paper mache paste.
Here's some examples for my custom pet portrait collection.
This is Tyson. My friend Stuart's dog.
When I first moved into Canada, I stayed at Stuart's house.
Tyson is my first dog friend who I lived with over 1 year, and I really love him.
I used a picture I taken in last summer.
I glued popsicle sticks on the canvas panel and painted gesso over that.
The result turned out quite great.
I like the wooden texture.
I added some conte and colored pencil for extra touch.
And also some acrylics for sharp image.
Next...
It's Hank!
My friend Catherine's "little" black cat.
He beloved for a long time from many people and now taking a rest.
He always looked me up like that and say something after. So cute.
For this, I used paper mache paste on canvas panel for ground material.
Let me talk about this paper mache clay on next post.
Applying varnish after color pencil, pastel, acrylic, ink.
It is fun project for sure!
