[Making Note] Photo Transfer Part 2, Personalized Moleskine, CrossFit Journal, Art Journal

I like Moleskine notebook.
Natural and simple look, quality paper, pocket..
And easy to customize!

I usually use my inspiration photos for cover.. art, food, travel..ect.
Few months ago, I started to make exercise journal.
There's so many smartphone apps for log exercise and things,
but I prefer to write down by hand.

Here's my making story.

It is a pocket size moleskine cahier.
(Legendary notebooks! haha)
You can easily find it from chapters or art shop.

It's coming set of 3, so I usually use these like this:
1. Exercise 2.Food 3.Ideas and everything
For pocket size, normally good for a month for me. (64 plain pages)

Oh of course you can use another notebooks if its cover is not coated..

You need a your favorite photo -print from inkjet printer, Gel medium,
some kinda tool can apply medium to cover (brush is fine too), and notebooks.

I protected notebook's inside and backside with some papers and masking tape.
Unless, glue and water will be everywhere inside and outside of journal....huge mess!!
Maybe there's better way you can find, but I prefer masking tape.

Apply "Generous amount" of gel medium to the cover.
If it's too thin, you may not get the result what you want.

Gel medium... I'm using Golden Heavy gel..just because i'm having it for my paintings.
Many of crafters are using "Mod Podge" for photo transfer.
I believe that the ingredients are almost same.
And mod podge is much cheaper than acrylic medium in Walmart.

Anyway,
Apply whatever medium, and put the picture on that, print side down.
I couldn't take picture to concentrate on the process, but will try take a shot for it later.

Once your photo is beautifully attached on notebook,
press with a heavy book (thanks jamie!) to make it perfect.

You need to wait until it's completely dry.
VERY IMPORTANT!
BE PATIENT!
I usually set aside for 24 hours or more.

(All the sudden, moleskine is gone and weird chinese dimsum picture is on? ;))

Give moist on the print. I like to use wet kitchen towel.

And carefully peel off paper using your fingertips.
This is my favorite part. Finally the image coming out from the fog!
But be careful not to peel too much or tear..

Once you get your image, set aside for dry.
Add some colored pencil and acrylic or watercolor if you want, and apply thin layer of varnish.

You can also use natural wax..like beeswax for finish.
For me, natural wax is just too much work but i like the result.
You can easily find how to use wax for finish. google it.

Tada!!!
Framed and signed.

This one...actually is not that great example.
Too much image is scratched off.
In this case, I add more touch with pencils and paints.
I think images having black too much like this usually give me a bad result.
I don't know..maybe it's just me.

I like this faded blue color and scratched edge.
Blue and green are always good for photo transfer.

Try this with your own picture.
It's fun and can be a great personalized gift!
